Búfé

Í almennri málvenju er svo litið á að búfé séu dýr sem haldin eru af mönnum til nytja af þeim afurðir sem það gefur. Þannig er von um einhvern fjárhagslegan, eða mælanlegan ábata af nýtingu afurðar af dýri, forsenda þess að það geti talist búfé.



Í lögum eru eftirtalin dýr talin vera búfé: Alifuglar, geitur, hross, kanínur, loðdýr, nautgripir, sauðfé, svín og önnur dýr sem haldin verða til nytja. Hið opinbera sker úr um ef ágreiningur verður um hvort dýr teljist til búfár eður ei.
